 One of only
2 covered bridges still open to traffic in CT. Crossing the Housatonic River,
it enters the charm of West Cornwall. No Red lights. Not more than 15 or
so old New England buildings clustered along the RR tracks that parallels
the river on the other side of this bridge. It's a different world. | ||
 This is the
toll house on the opposite side of this covered bridge. It's old too. Notice
the clapboards just below the side roof line; but it has character. | ||
 The Wandering
Moose Cafe is directly opposite the Toll House. It was the benefeciary of
our GM Mastercard on 3 successive nights: Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Their
dinners were memorable, gastronomique, too expensive and the portions were
small. But the food was very, very tasty and only a few miles from the track.
Never crowded, we nevertheless made reservations Saturday and Sunday. No
liquor, but beer and wine. | ||
