Lime Rock 25th Vintage Races & Show
This is the drive over bridge leading to the infield. A group one vintage racer (pre 1941) disappears under the bridge.
The infield side of the drive over bridge.
On Sunday the track hosted the 25th Vintage Car Show on the main straight, the big bend and right through the esses. At 8 oclock the Lime Rock Tower with the pits below, the pit out lane leading to the main straight filled with cars.
Although they weren't officially marked, there were several parking areas filled with Corvettes.
View over the paddock nearest the Skip Barber Racing School in the buildings at 9 o'clock.
The paddock from behind the Lime Rock Tower. One of the advantages of getting to the races early is to beat the crowds.
On the right side it was $8.75 a gallon for 112 octane. But whose counting? Note those beautiful flowers and bushes throughout the park.
A staging area alonside the main straight just above the pits. I like these small special purpose racing support vehicles for transporting everything from tools, to parts and crew. This one has a lid to fold over the tool box.
Wildflowers.
The "no name" back straight.
The hillside above the esses is a favorite specatator spot.
This was a nice restored Airstream trailer and car hauler combo. The owners brother told me, he made the conversion and "the previous owner cried for a half hour after he saw it."
Only one year from 1984 to 1985 did U-Haul rent a camper trailer. I rented one for Carlisle and thus this was our first RV experience. This one (of 271 registered) was parked next to us.
Chatting with the owner, his wife and small boy we relived that experience. He stated they were being restored by collectors today and as you can see they hold lots of stuff, from a pocket bike, to a mini bike to bicycles.
I spotted this other Coach in the paddock and wondered if I may have ever rode in that school bus.
This old house sits just inside the main gate.
This sign right on Lime Rock Road is so unpretentious that you ride right past it at night and can miss the turn off. We're getting season ticket next year. :-)
