-There
is alot of confusion in the marketplace ... and there are only 2 suppliers
of these kits in reality. Often retail customers think they are purchasing
a quality product Dr. Rebuild developed. Later they realize it is an imitation
that is missing parts, missing instructions and often is wrong size or
length or wall thickness or specific GM spec material. Dr. Rebuild developed
these and then later Zip copied them and came out with their imitation.
Corvette owners have been confused and fooled for the last 10+ years. Read below what other say.
Ecklers buys these items from Zip.
We don't sell our kits to them. The last time we sold either of them anything
was 1995. Don't blame us for their imitation product. It's not ours, and
Its not the same except for the name!
TM We
charge about $2.00 more for ours, but you get exacly what you pay for.
The other one is cheaper and it shows.
The following description of that
other Emission Hose Kit is from the C3 Corvette Forum. http://forums.corvetteforum.com/zerothread?id=279928
Mr G.L. from Santa Clarita Ca asks ...
"Does anyone know where I can get a 1978 L48 (auto, Low alt.) specific
vacuum diagram for the emissions hoses? We have a 1978 GM Service Manual,
but the vacuum ports shown on the carb diagram do not match our Quadrajet.
I ordered an emission hose kit from Eckler's (specific to our car) and
it came with alot of useless hose. Some not long enough (for the charcoal
canister) some not the correct diameter, and only ONE Tee fitting. And
worse of all, no diagram to show how it show all be routed. I did a search
on the 'net, but no one has pictures of (their 1978 or similar) engine
bays. Can anyone of you guys that has a federal L48 auto, low alt. post
a close up picture of your vacuum diagram or a shot of your engine bay
with the air cleaner removed. Only requirement is that the vehicle must
be as close as possible to stock (are there any left? ). Thanks!"
