Greenwood's 1976 Spirit of LeMans
|

|
This race car was built by Greenwood for Chevrolet dealer
Rick Mancuso using the typical Greenwood wide body on a modified Corvette
frame. In 1976 it was "borrowed" by Greenwood to race at LeMans. |

The promoters of LeMans paid for the transportation and participation
of this model at the 1976 race because it was so well known and enthusiastically
received. |

With 650 cubic inches and 1000 plus horsepower, it ran 217
MPH on the Mulsanne straight. Regretfully after 11 hours a tire failure
damaged the body and fuel cell. It was the unofficial GM entrant in 1976. |
