Greenwood's 1972 BFG # 48 Race Car

Car #48 was one of 3 race cars built for the 1972 race season when John Greenwood got a sponsorship with BFGoodrich Tire Co. This car was built from a roadster chassis purchased from a salvage yard. The bodies were 1968-1969 style to take advantage of SCCA rules.

Note the GM style L-88 wheel well flares and clear Plexiglas head lamp covers. These 2 parts could be purchased over the counter at GM dealerships. I have an old copy of The Chevy Power Book with all the now extinct GM part numbers.

Every part to convert to these fixed head lamps could be purchased at your local GM dealer.

Note the front windshield blow out clips and dual Red identification lamps on the roof of the hardtop.

Illuminated identification lamps for the entry number on the door. A necessary addition for 12 hours of Sebring, 24 hours of LeMans or any event that runs in darkness.

Full roll cage and racing seat.

No need to worry about this wiper door opening. It looks to be fixed in position.

Basically a stock 1968-1975 hardtop. Note the push button on the 1968 only doors.

  Special pedestal for mirror.

  Light weight race wheels.

  Ducting for front brakes.
