September 9-11 2005 Corvettes at McDorman's
The Old - New Corvette showroom has two interesting models.

This is the second C6 built VIN #2. I imagine it has only left this showroom to address recalls if that.

With today's digital cameras, software and laser printers I don't think the counterfeiters will have a hard time making these tags.

This is the window sticker from VIN #2. Like a dope I did not check the bottom to see if Bob McDorman was the dealer listed on the sticker or if it was delivered elsewhere.

This 2003 was one of the convertibles that was restyled as a 1953 retro for the 50th anniversary by an after market builder. GM's own 50th edition was pedestrian.
This model looks very faithful to the rear curves & proportions of an original 1953. I would not be surprised if the rear bumper chrome was the repro's.
Most of this chrome is probably the repro version for real 1953- 1955 models except the headlamp trim. I like the extended nose as in the original SR models.

These head lamp stone guards and bezel are probably one of the items that needed to be tooled specifically for the retro 1953's. I like them.

My wife was inquiring about delivery. Not!

The two small longitudinal fins in front of the tail lamp lens are missing. It would be better to follow the original of this feature which was not replicated. Note the empty exhaust extension.

The normal exhaust ports hide the back up lamps not found on original 1953 models.

Close up of the back up lamp.

I really think the small longitudinal fins as original would better replicate the 1953-1955. The 50's F*rds have the same body curves & lense here.

The side trim is a good rendition of the original feature and the removal of the C5 fender vent helps maintain that design integrity.

For numbers buffs, here is the VIN from this 2003 retro anniversary edition.

If you didn't like the Corvettes and more at Bob McDorman's, you just ain't a Car guy.
