Corvettes at Floyd Garrett's
Muscle Car Museum |
Returning from the Knoxville Corvette Expo we stopped
in Sevierville at the Floyd
Garrett Muscle Car Museum. There were six
Corvettes among the close to 90 muscle cars on display: 62, 63, 65, 72,
78 and 82. |
This Red 62 was all by itself in a corner
with the following placard identifying it as never having been started.
I can't figure why the parts would have arrived in boxes, unless the FI,
engine, big brake package and suspension parts were ordered over the counter. |

A Daytona Blue/Daytona Blue split window coupe. Aren't they
the requisite model for any Corvette collector? |
A nice early 65 396 convertible. |
You know, Ken and Gary Nabers say that "If it doesn't
have 14 valve cover bolts, it aint a Corvette". |
A very nice engine for any collection. |
This White 72 was an NCRS Top Flight model as was the
65 396. |
72 LT-1 with AC, a late feature also showing a second design
wiper actuator with a curved pipe for mounting the Red stripe hose. |
This 78 Pace Car was another low mileage example. So
many were never driven much, GM probably saved on warranty claims. |
A two-tone 82 wrapped up the Corvette display. |
The 1955 Motorama exhibit of the new Chevy 265 V8 cut aways
were on display. I love the finish on the normally rough cast iron parts. |
Another display contained 6 Chevrolet engines with a ZR1
on the left. |
Each of these looked like they were brand spankin new. |
A beautiful 1965 327 with Fuel Injection. |
Pssssssssssssssst. Uh oh. The
valve cover has the casting flaw that did not appear until 1966. |
This was identified as a 1969 ZL-1: Aluminum heads and block. |
A 1957 Chevy convertible with a NASCAR race heritage. |
Spartan interior. How about that shifter? The throw must
be a foot. |
Another 57, this was a stock convertible with factory Fuel
Injection. |
Note the FI air cleaner and hose to the top of the radiator
support. |
Note the heater block off plate and FI air cleaner scoop
on top of the radiator support. |
This was well worth the admission price and there were 80
plus other on display. |
