The following magazine advertisements are 7 1/2" x 11". The Black and White advertisements are from Motor Trend, Sports Car Illustrated and Hot Rod magazines, while the color ones are from Sports Illustrated and the New Yorker magazines. There is only one advertisements below that did not herald the new Fuel Injection.
A Tiger in a Tuxedo theme, that references the racing success at Pebble Beach, Elkhart Lake, Seattle Seafair and Palm Springs. No mention of FI... yet.
July 1957 advertisement. This is only the second print ad I have seen that does not mention FI, although it does mention 4 speed.
February 1957. Love the hot rod and the crew left to right: Roy, Noland, Mort and Loren, I think, but I could be mistaken. :)
A Lesson from Lombard Street print advertisement shows this famous San Francisco landmark and what else but a FI model. I have also driven it, and I know Zora did also.
What more can you say. | |
This advertisements proclaims that the optional "Power-Lift" windows are preferred by "competition drivers" because "they weigh less than the manual mechanism." I have had both and there is no way the manual was heavier; I've held them.
June 1957, a rare model without FI. There is an enthic under tone in the copy extolling the new 4 speed with "Synchro-Mesh" 2.2 to 1 Low; 1.66 Second; 1.31 Third and 1 to 1 High - "just what Herr Doktor ordered". I could not agree more.
The Rochester Products Division ran this advertisement in the January 1957 SAE Journal.
One of the most sought after models: a Red 1957 with FI. Note the horn button looks custom, but may just be reflecting the Red interior. A little dark for Venetian Red, but I like it.
Check out the sling at this dock side scene with the Ferrari Red model under the tarp. This and the following two color print ads pushed the Corvette prowess of the new FI models over foreign models.
This English looking fellow is standing next to the large covered unknown convertible that is being towed by a Chevy Cameo pickup. Note the front license bar on the 1957 is missing. Must be on BO at...
Another ethnic advertisement, that probably would not fly in today's PC market. Above the right arm of the gesturing "driver" is another Corvette; a 1956 or 1957 that has no windshield frame.
Following are advertisements with a Corvette that included other Chevrolet models. This one says that a "270-h.p. high-performance V8 also available at extra cost."
Sweet Smooth and Sassy at the race track.
Is this a Fuel Injected 4 door?
