1955 Magazine Advertisements |
The following magazine advertisements are
from Sports Illustrated magazine and the New Yorker. They
measure 7 1/2" by 11". This is the first color advertisement
I have seen for a Corvette. The rear has an advertisement for a Mediterranean
Cruise from Feb 11, 1955 to April 9. 1955 so I assume it is prior to that
cruise

The following Black and White advertisements all have the
same coherence and theme. All have what appear to be charcoal sketches.
The undated one below only mentions the 6 cylinder and the Powerglide.
The following advertisement is dated February
28, 1955 and again only mentions the 6 cylinder and Powerglide.
The following advertisement is undated, but
both the 6 cylinder and the V8 are mentioned.
The following advertisement from Sports Illustrated
is dated April 25, 1955 on the back. It too mentions both the 6 cylinder
and the V8.
The following advertisement from the New
Yorker is dated June 18, 1955 on the back. It no longer mentions the 6
cylinder. Only the V8 is featured.
The following advertisement from Sports Illustrated
is dated September 26, 1955 on the back. It too mentions only the V8.
The following advertisement would probably be considered
politically incorrect today.
